Who Are We?

We are a group of Suffield community members who are committed to taking action in support and solidarity with all BIPOC (Black, IndigenousPersons of Color). We are anti-bias and anti-racist (ABAR).

What is ABAR?

ABAR means anti-bias, anti-racist. It’s a mindset and a values system that we work toward every day. 

Why Suffield? 

Because every community can and should do better. 

How Can We Do Better? 

By learning and then taking action to inform, educate, and drive policy-based changes in Suffield that will elevate BIPOC and protect and empower all marginalized communities & diverse peoples. 

We raise our voices in recognition and support ofBlack lives and all marginalized people, including addressing and owning implicit bias, systemic racism, and white privilege.

We embrace diversity of all kinds, and seek to create a Suffield – and a world – where diversity is embraced and appreciated, and everyone feels welcomed and safe.

Our Goal

By building relationships with strategic partners, we seek to ensure that Suffield is a safe,Anti-Bias, AntiRacist (ABAR)community. We urge our partners to publicly commit to creating meaningful changes that

  • demonstrate a clear commitment to racial equity and equality,
  • ensure programming, resources, curriculum and staffing reflect the rich diversity of our town and the world at large, and
  • create a permanent and unfailing dedication toABAR in our community.
